questions Q:
Do you also support Palm or Sony Clie handhelds? A:
No, at this moment we do not support them. Q:
I have not installed Microsoft ActiveSync. Is it still possible to install
the guide? A:
No, it is not. Install Microsoft ActiveSync first and set up a partnership
with your PocketPC. Q:
Can I also download the software on a PocketPC for which there is no
relationship? A:
Yes you can. Q:
I have a PocketPC with a black and white screen. Will this work? A:
This depends mostly on the screen type. Most B&W screens are windows
CE 2.x machines which are currently not supported by the guide. But you
can try. Download the trial edition and find out. Q:
I want to install multiple licenses with only a single e-mail adress. Is
this possible? A:
Yes, you can reuse your license code. Usage
questions Q:
Is there a limit to the amount of tastings in the system? A:
There is no practical limit set. You may experience performance
degradation when you have a lot of tastings in your system and you have a
older PocketPC (more than 2500 tastings). Q:
Does a huge database consume a lot of internal RAM A:
Yes, the database grows as you enter tastings into it. It has been
designed to stay as small as possible, but space will be consumed. If you
really run out of internal memory then reinstall the application to a
external memory card and copy the files in the old folder in internal RAM
over the newly installed files on the external storage card. Q:
Is there no performance degradation when the guide is run from an external
storage card? A:
There is some performance degradation, but if you run out of internal
memory this is the only way to keep using the software. And you have the
advantage that you do not need to backup your tastings on a external
memory card. Q:
How do I backup the database on my Windows machine? A:
When you have connected the PocketPC to your Windows machine open the
Explorer. Click on the folder you have installed the guide to and Copy
& Paste this folder to your Windows machine. If the Windows computer
asks you if you want to keep the database synchronised answer no. Q:
Can I look in the database on my Windows machine? A:
Yes, you can. The information in the database is yours. Please note that
the database design itself is copyrighted material. Distributing tastings
databases is restricted for commercial use only, so feel free to share with your friends. Q:
What database do you use? A:
We use Access for Pocket PC, which you can synchronise to your own PC where you can get the information from the database with Microsoft Access, Excel or other mainstream tools. |
