Before you install the trial edition of the My Wine Tasting guide make sure you have all required ingredients to make this a success. You need :

• a PocketPC handheld computer with a SH3, MIPS or ARM processor at 133 Mhz or better . You will need about 1 Mbyte of free memory on your PocketPC or expansion card to install and use the application. 

• a computer with windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP already working together with your PocketPC using Microsoft ActiveSync 3.5 or later. You will need about 20 Mbytes of free disc space to install the software.

If you have problems setting up a link from your PocketPC to you windows computer please contact your supplier or Microsoft.

Please note that slower processors will also work but 133 Mhz is required for comfortable performance. But this is a personal thing off course. If you have a slower processor just try it. Trying is free!

What do I need to do?

You will need to download the software onto your Windows desktop computer and install it on this computer. Then you will have to connect your PocketPC to this desktop computer so you will be able to install the software onto your PocketPC.

1. Download and install the software on my windows computer

In this step you will download and install the software over the internet on the computer which already has a partnership with your PocketPC. If this computer has no internet connection you will need to download the software on a CD, memory stick or some other exchange medium. If you do not know how to do this please consult an expert. This manual assumes your windows computer has a direct link to the internet. If this is the case please carefully follow the steps below to quickly and successfully install the My Wine Tasting Guide on your windows computer.

• Disconnect your PocketPC from your windows computer

• Download the software for your PocketPC by clicking on the appropriate line below. The download is about 1-2 Mbytes in size.

	Pocket PC 2003 or later Please read the note below!

• Once you have clicked the [Click here to download] text the computer will ask you whether you want to open or save the file you want to download. Click [OPEN] and the download will proceed.

• Wait for the download to complete. When the download completes it will automatically start the setup and the first setup screen will appear. This first screen contains a license agreement under which you will start using the software. If you do not agree with this license, simply abort the installation. Otherwise click on the [ACCEPT] button.

• In the next screen you can choose where you want to install the application. Don't alter anything if the default installation location is fine with you and click on the [OK] button. The Add/Remove programs application will pop up showing the message 'On the next mobile device connection the installed application will be downloaded to the device'.

• Click on the [OK] button. The screen will disappear and after a few seconds the setup will also disappear.
  

• PocketPC 2003 or later users please note : You may need to install Microsoft VBScript on your PocketPC. Click here to download and install.

You have successfully installed the software onto your windows computer ! You can now proceed with the next step.

2. Connect the PocketPC to my computer and install the software to my PocketPC

This is the last and final step. You will now install the software on your PocketPC. To do this you have to connect your PocketPC to your windows computer. Then the windows computer will download the software onto your PocketPC and start the setup on your PocketPC. Follow the instructions carefully to install the application.

• Connect the PocketPC to your computer the way you always do this. This may be by plugging a cable into your PocketPC or by placing it in a docking station. Your windows computer will start Microsoft ActiveSync and make a small noise. Your PocketPC will also make a small noise.

• Automatically the Add/Remove programs application is started again. Switch to this application by clicking on it in the taskbar. The applcation will show.

• The Add/Remove programs application will ask if you want to install the QO MyWineTastings into the default application install folder. Click on the [OK] button if you want that. The Installing Application box will pop up with a progress window. Wait until the application is fully downloaded. A message will appear informing you that the application is downloaded and that you will need to check the screen of your PocketPC.

• Click [OK] on your windows computer when the message comes up that you have to check your mobile device screen. The message will disappear and the Add/Remove programs application will also disappear.

• Now check the screen of your PocketPC. You will notice that your PocketPC is copying files. Sometimes a message will pop up asking if files should be overwritten. If that happens click on the button [YES TO ALL] on your PocketPC. Then the installation will proceed. After a while the installation finishes.

You have now successfully installed the application on your PocketPC ! Congratulations !

How do I start the application on my PocketPC?

To Start the My Wine Tasting Guide on your PocketPC follow these steps below.

• Click with the pen on the [START] button in the top right corner of the screen. The Start menu will appear.

• Click on [PROGRAMS] in the start menu. The programs screen will appear.

• Locate the icon of the My Wine Tasting guide (it is dark blue). You may need to use the scrollbars on the right side of the screen.  Once you found the icon click on it. The My Wine Tasting guide will start in trial mode.
